High School Representative Sport news

It has been a very exciting week of sport at Emanuel School. On Tuesday, the School’s best basketball and touch football players were selected to trial for the CDSSA representative teams. These trials were very competitive with all 11 schools in the association competing for places within these teams. Congratulations to all of the Emanuel students who gave their all on the day and well done to the following students who were successful in their selections:

  • Blake Nixon (open boys basketball)
  • Claudia Burman (open girls basketball)
  • Zac Greenberg (15s boys basketball)
  • Ariel Odes (15s boys basketball)
  • BJ Shapiro (15s boys basketball)
  • Romi Lapidge (15s girls basketball and 15s girls touch football)
  • Tori Shapiro (15s girls basketball)
  • Leo Carroll (open boys touch football)
  • Joel Epshteyn (open boys touch football)
  • Brandon Kaye (open boys touch football)
  • Jake Kurlansky (open boys touch football)
  • Brody Elbourne (15s boys touch football)
  • Danielle Rutstein (15s girls touch football)

This term Emanuel is competing in the Sydney School Basketball competition. This is a weekly competition held each Tuesday afternoon. This week produced some excellent results, with both the boys and girls team winning matches. The boys were comfortable winners over both Moriah and Kesser Torah College, whilst the girls won in a great game against International Grammar School. Good luck to these teams for the rest of the season.

Tuesday afternoon also provided an excellent display of fitness and skill, with the intermediate and senior boys playing in the East Touch semi-finals. The senior team had a comfortable win over the St Andrew’s team, whilst the intermediate team won in what was an exhilarating match against Reddam. I wish both of these teams the best of luck in their grand finals next week.

Finally, congratulations to Jesse Gothelf (pictured opposite) who competed in the CIS Open Boys Tennis Championships at The Kings School last week. Jesse playing well above his age division, managed to compete at this prestigious event in between attending the Year 7 Camp at Somerset. Well done Jesse!
