Donations for Asylum Seekers Centre
The Year 6 fundraising leaders are encouraging food and toiletry donations for the Asylum Seeker Centre in Sydney.
Students in Years K-6 are asked to bring in food donations in Weeks 6 and 7 this term. Collection points will in Mrs Rom and Miss Hynek’s room.
These are some of the foods and toiletries that are most sought after:
- Baby food (for six month old children)
- Baby rusks
- Breakfast cereal (Cornflakes in particular are popular)
- Canned beans (chickpeas, red kidney beans, mixed beans)
- Chilli flakes and powder
- Coffee (instant)
- Cooking oil (vegetable, 1 litre containers)
- Condiments (honey, jam)
- Dried fruit (apricots, prunes, dates)
- Dried lentils (red)
- Flour (small packages)
- Long life milk (1 litre containers)
- Muesli bars
- Noodles (instant)
- Rice (1kg bags, Basmati is the most popular)
- Tea (chamomile, peppermint, jasmine, green, black)
- Tinned fish
- Tinned fruit
- Tinned vegetables (corn, tomatoes, mixed vegetable)
- Tomato paste
- Toiletries
- Baby wipes
- Deodorant (for men and women)
- Disposable razors
- Laundry powder (small packages)
- Moisturiser
- Nappies (mainly toddlers sizes 8kg+)
- Shaving cream
- Sanitary pads
- Shampoo
- Shower gel / body wash
- Toothpaste
- Washing liquid (for dishes)
- Washing powder (for clothes)
